HC is such a different job than a OC or DC. And of especially the minority HC candidates I would think he ought to rank higher than other guys like Bienemy, Leftwich, and others who tend to have less experience and are only guys who have coached 1 side of the ball. I think Morris is an OK co-ordinator but nothing special. But that's not the job description of an HC. Morris seems to be the kind of guy who ought to get a lot of attention as an HC candidate and I'd be surprised if he wasn't plucked up by a team like the Dolphins. He can stand behind a mic, not alienate the media, and he speaks articulately in a friendly and positive way. Vital for today's HC world.

If I was an owner, my concern would be to get a guy with the ability to hold together a locker room and to get a group of disparate guys to pull in the same direction because it's usually bad or underachieving teams that are looking for an HC and so there are problems. And...this is important... the candidate must have have the chops and personal contacts to attract a really good coaching staff.

For whatever reason, McVay has been able to attract and choose really good coaches, and seeing how every year the Rams are raided by other teams and Rams coaches are promoted to higher jobs on those other teams, who wouldn't want to be a coach under McVay if they aspire to greater things? It seems to be the fastest track in the NFL to rising up in the coaching ranks. Can Morris do that? I'd imagine he'd have a better shot at it than some of the others just because of his years of experience, and now having become part of the McVay coaching tree.
