They knocked the guy down, hard...they played to the hilt....they wanted to show dominance.....that's what that play was about....You don't think Baker wanted to lay the wood to Akers? Too many times the RAMS have been pushed around, that hit was a statement sent to hopefully the teams still in the run.
It was a clean hit, it was a massive hit.....in no way was it done to do permanent harm.....it's a hit that sends a message...."I'll take it to you if you want to take it to me".....it's not so much a macho thing...I call it standing my ground and taking yours.....Of course teams got together afterwards in concern, why should they not? It in no way IMO takes away from that hit being done properly, fairly, within rules and violent....what's wrong with that?.....
The hand gesture after the play was IMO pure adrenaline from the play, you can't just turn that stuff off like a faucet......There were several "damn" hits in that game....hard and violent.....we gave out the better number....I like it, we need it going forward.
