I hear cliches like that a lot. Some actually make sense. That doesn't. If you play not to lose by definition you win.

If you play not to lose when the score is tied, your playing for a tie. What's more interesting is would have mcvay taken a fg in overtime or go for the win if they got to that situation. I'm not sure if a tie would have helped us much of anything so that would have been interesting. We may have moved up with a tie but I think we would have been in same spot.
