I think so. Poor Michel just doesn't catch well and is essentially no threat out of the backfield. In theory, since we really haven't seen Akers for very long, is that Akers could run it or catch it and be a threat. Which I think would have made a difference in Stafford's production at least. Stafford is already averse to checking it down so when Michel drops one of the rare attempts, I'm sure it only reinforces Stafford's inclination to forego the checkdown.

If Akers could proved something in the ballpark of what Gurley used to do and make some chunk plays out of dumpoffs, that'll go a long way in teaching Stafford to take a positive play rather than forcing it elsewhere.

Hell, Akers is even a threat to PASS it.
