The funny thing is that the players on offense are no better than last season... maybe even worse. But the OL is playing well despite the sky is falling delirium. Kupp is playing at a record setting level... the rest of the offense is putting up solid stats. You cannot, although some do, discount the effect losing Woods had on this offense. Coming in as a new QB, Stafford has elevated the play around him. He is buying time with his feet. He is throwing the ball down the field. He is making proper play changes. Defenses are no longer daring the Rams' QB to win the game. Ball security. Can run when he has to.
The things he is doing is stuff we haven't seen in 20 years. The Rams are 11-4 and playoff bound.
How many wins would the Rams have with Goff at QB right now? 6? 7?
Stafford has elevated this team and he is carrying it. McVay, like Stafford, has had his issues but he is a top coach. The Rams are lucky to have both. And it's highly doubtful the Rams would even be in the playoffs if those two weren't on the team.
The one gripe I have with Stafford is trying to make something happen at the 5 yard line when he should just be getting rid of the ball or even taking a sack. Got to stop putting them up for grabs. It is infuriating. But he is coming from a team that he was all they had. He might have to unlearn some things. But I am rooting FOR him. Not to be right but because he is the Rams' QB and is doing a great job. Things weren't handed to him. He played on a crap team his entire career. He has earned everything every milestone he has achieved. He didn't get drafted by New England... Have a great defense and cheater coach. He went to the Lions. I am pulling for him as a fan of the game and as a Ram fan.
