As long as there are active infections, the virus is going to continue to mutate. With much of our country and other countries that have access to the vaccine, having large chunks of the population not getting it, the virus is going to continue to spread and mutate here/there.
More importantly, there are other poorer countries, that don't have access to the vaccines until much later if at all...it seems that mutations will surely come from those countries.
And now the omnicron variant, which likely isn't even part of all of these positive tests, spreads much easier and faster than any other variant to date. It is being reported that the 2 shot doses of MRNA vaccines is only 33% effective at stopping infection and 70% against preventing hospitalization. You will likely need a 3rd booster shot to gain protection from this variant.
Its starting to feel that this isn't going to stop anytime soon. Are we just chasing our tail on this?
