I have a slightly different take…

Sometimes I think we need to back away and realize how much D turnover we've had and how many significant injuries we've had, and yet still have a very good team with a good record.

We lost JJ, Brockers, Fox, and Tye Hill who were either very good starters or direct rotational players.

To injury this year we have lost our #1 RB, our starting WSOLB Collins, our #2 TE (who is also our primary blocking TE), our #1 outside WR, our starting NT, 3 back up RBs (one of which was going to be our starting KR), and then we lost our next-up KR/PR (Atwell). Then we lost one of our best STs players and a guy who likely was going to be used more as the year went on as a match up nightmare (Harris).

Plus, we have our 3rd DC in as many years and a new OC (these coaches keep getting poached), plus a new OL Coach and others.
And we have a new QB in his first year with McVay and in this system.

Sure, teams have injuries and lose guys and bring in other guys. But this is an awful lot of turnover and losses for 1 year and for a team expected to do big things.

I give Snead and McVay a lot of credit for how well this team has done when considering all the above.

Yeah, we lost some starters to FA as cap casualties. So what’s new? Happens every year to every quality team and it’s gonna continue for the foreseeable future.

As 93 pointed out, injuries have merely reverted to the norm. We were exceptionally fortunate in previous years but now we’re getting our share, too.

You have a point about coaching losses. No question that they’ve exceeded the norm by a large margin. That will probably slow down this year, though. Frankly, our various asst coaches have not distinguished themselves as much this year.

The ‘new’ QB argument is almost laughable as an excuse for challenges. Stafford is a 12 year vet, had all spring and summer to assimilate, and is a major upgrade over Goff to boot.

Look, I’m as big of a Snead/McVay fan as there is on this board but neither is blameless for some of our struggles. Both have made glaring mistakes that perhaps have cost us the division title. This has not been their finest year, respectively. I’m somewhat disappointed in both this year, tbh.

Anyone else think about how many players we've lost and are out injured?

RockRam319December 10, 2021 03:24AM

the Rams injuries have been more typical of the league

LMU93154December 10, 2021 03:54AM

"More typical". Perhaps. But playoff teams need some luck in that department

Yes I've seen their list of injuries. Look at their records.

  Agree 100%

merlin130December 10, 2021 10:36AM

Difference: Harris, Funk, Mundt, Xavier Jones vs Donald Ramsey Kupp
