You can only have so many injuries and defections that eventually causes too much damage to the team.
The Rams lost big time players on the D to FA. SJD was going to be a top FA Dlineman. He is critical to the success of our Dline.
They lost a big time RB (and virtually all his back-ups save for Henderson).
McVay constantly praised Mundt for his great blocking (and he had years in the O system).
Losing Woods is pretty much the equivalent if the Cards lost Hopkins for the rest of the year or the Seahawks lost Lockett.
No, it is not typical for a team to have a brand new QB.
No, it is not typical to go through OCs and DCs like crap through a goose whereby ever single year the Rams lose one or the other to another team as a HC. Perhaps on bad teams when coaches are getting fired. But not on Playoff level teams.
What's going on with the Rams this year isn't rare; but it is well beyond usual or typical. And it never bodes well for a team with playoff intentions.
McVay and Snead are not above criticism. But... hindsight is 20/20. Those 2 have done a superb job. And, might I remind my fellow Rams fans that McVay was like a savior who rescued us from being mired in a C- team with a D- Head Coach, trapped in the 80's. Literally overnight McVay took this team to a new level, and I believe has yet to lose a game when leading at Halftime.
The Rams have a shot this year, although I think there are better teams... and sometimes better because the teams have had some injury luck (the Bucs for instance). IMO the best team in the league is the Cards, although I think they are not beyond being beat by the Rams if the Rams play their A game.
