best guess is that Noteboom is athletic enough to run a route
and maybe even catch the ball.... he has got to be one of the
faster guys
Not disputing this.
With that said, though...
When Noteboom trots onto the field as a 3rd T (regardless of where he lines up), the Rams are telegraphing a run play. This is fine with me. My only question is...is he our best run blocker for what the play calls for? I mean...does he need to use his athleticism to reach a block or is he being asked to plow whoever is in front of him?
If it's the later...is he our best option for that role (as opposed to... say, Anchrum)?
But I don't know the answer---I am just guessing that he's is probably the best player to play out there next to a tackle with a tight end next to him. In their, though it may not matter, he's going to be blocking an edge player, not a DT or NT anyway, maybe even a safety so a more nimble athete is what you want
I was suggesting to think of him, not as a 3rd tackle--there really is no such thing in a playbook, but as a big TE. That is what he is.
There are only 5 OL, not 6, you can insert a OL into an eligible position, but that makes them a TE, or sometimes you see a tackle or a guard
or even a DL as a FB----
