Short answer is heck yeah, you make the trade.
Goff was flailing under McVay.
Good, much less VERY good QB’s are as scarce as hen’s teeth when picking in the late 20’s where Rams would be.
The value of a good QB is off the charts, certainly when compared to future (late) draft picks.
Stafford started like a house afire at 7-1 and among leaders for league MVP.
So, trade was an opportunity that couldn’t be passed up by a team that’s serious about winning a SB.
Now Stafford has struggled in last 2 games, no question. Is he healthy? I’m not so sure.
Coaches have not done a good job in these last 2 games at putting their players on both sides of the ball in the best positions to succeed. This has been amply discussed on this board recently.
Hopefully, McVay and Morris use this bye productively to self evaluate and will make adjustments accordingly. The talent is there to go all the way if only they are used properly instead of sputtering along trying to fit square pegs into round holes. I think it’s really that simple.
