He might feel he was misled by McVay into thinking he had a good shot at fulfilling his $4.5 million dollar contract, but realized by week 6 he wasn't going to get anywhere near the playing time to achieve the incentive laden contract......gonna try not to judge him, as we don't know his situation or the other aspects of what transpired for this to come to such an unceremonious end
My guess is that the hot-dogging on that TD was just the tip of the iceberg. IMO, that's why his looks diminished quickly afterward. It makes sense that he was told "we not me" and none of that crapola but then he did it anyway. Into the doghouse and the rear view mirror if you act that way with McVay.
I respect McVay's hard line attitude on this topic. It isn't the first player to find out the hard way and it probably won't be the last. I'm disappointed to lose the speed potential but we haven't really utilized it for a long time now, so I don't know that we're actually losing anything. It was assumed that a speed receiver to take the top off a defense was necessary for the success of this offense because of struggles in recent years but that appears not to be the case. Stafford and Co. are moving the ball and scoring quite well and have done so without SJ or TuTu blazing down the field.
What I find curious is the signing in the first place. Was McVay giving a vet the benefit of doubt and an opportunity to prove himself? Or, did he not look deep enough or realize just how poor of a personality fit that Jackson would be? My pure speculation is what I said earlier, though. I think SJ was told that he was on a short leash and no "incidents" would be tolerated. He apparently didn't believe it.
