This was "MS KITTY"!! She was our Station Cat. I took this photo around 1998-99. She was almost TWENTY years old! We had a %&%&* A HOLE Chief who did not like her AT ALL. In 2001, we kept her inside the station because it was cold outside. She had just had eye surgery. Lost one eye from a cancerous growth. Well, That Chief went ballistic. We come back next shift and she MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared. We checked EVERY square inch of the block the station was on. She NEVER EVER EVER left that area. The old man next door said she had been there since 1981. I told the guys Chief Bowers dumped her. They agreed but were nervous too. I never had another ounce of respect for that old fart. Had been on JFRD since the late 1940s, he was a "God" of JFRD...BIG HERO. But a frail cat set him off. When he passed, my reaction was "GOOD!" MS KITTY was an icon at the station. We had three shifts and one person from each shift fed her. There were back ups if anyone was off. I STILL miss that sweet girl!
