I'm not going to call him a bust.... simply too early in his career.
Or that he will never be a good WR.
Or that he will be out of the league in 4 years etc etc...
Because who knows what will happen and we sure haven't seen enough of him to know.
He's a rookie and has 4 really talented veteran WRs ahead of him.
But my issues with him is his biggest asset allegedly, his speed just doesn't look THAT special. He is fast but not amazingly fast.
He sure doesn't look Jackson fast, and Jackson is already old!!!
So was it really good value at pick 57. Didn't and doesn't still look it to me.
When you compare late round 2nd rounders, like freak DK, that's fast and size. Schwartz in the the 3rd round looked better value for a special SPEED (I know he isn't polished, but he had to learn behind veterans).
Just my take.

One thing about Tavon that was special was that you could actually see his speed and marvel at it. His size and route running were/are limitations but his speed was undeniable.
Even his rookie year, he had some punt returns that went the distance (but flags cost him a TD a bunch of times) and you actually felt like he was a weapon as a punt returner. I'm not getting that same vibe with Atwell. I agree that Atwell doesn't look like he has any special qualities about his game, so far.
Mcvay had a plan to get D-Jax in the house and I think he wanted to hedge his bets by bringing in Atwell as insurance in case Jackson gets hurt.
Maybe the plan works out, maybe it doesn't.
Imo, It's kind of a wonder what the Rams brass seen in Atwell that made them think we were not headed for a repeat of Tavon 2.0?
