he has flaws... at least I believe he does. Some of them I think disquieting.... but even so it does not take away from his 'greatness'. All coaches have flaws... far fewer work within, and sometimes overcome, those flaws and win... no one can doubt McVay wins, the majority of the time.
But as for RFL's post... I don't think he'd disagree with much that I said, except the 'great' part.... I think his point is those specific flaws HE sees in McVay are nearly precisely what he believes TB can take advantage of. I'm of two-minds.... I see RFL's point.. BUT...
McVay is young and I believe he's learning, overcoming those short-comings. Some things take longer, true.
Someone on this board posted that he has "Martz-itis", and ego is involved. I do NOT subscribe to that theory, or belief. I think he's confident, VERY confident, but I see no similarity to Martz whom I believe felt he was above the game, nearly 'holier than thou'... I don't see that in McVay at all. - JamesJM
