I think it is early to to talk greatness for any young coach.
His buddy in GB is pretty sharp as is the one in AZ but not hearing that word thrown out such as "Genius!"
It also takes more than saying something to make it so
I prefer to wait and see. He is talented and has potential but again that is just another word.
History will tell.

Sean McVay is a really, really good young coach. On a lot of levels, I trust him.
But, as of yet, I don't see him as a great coach. He gets out-coached. Shanahan, for example, has his number.
I think his biggest problem is an over-reliance on being clever. I don't sense that he knows how and when to turn to pure execution. Those gadget plays ... they're powerful now and then. But he turns too often impatiently away from bread and butter execution. There is a looseness is coaching because of that.
I don't have to spell it out, do I? He keeps offering mea culpas after games for bad calls. But he never seems to break the habit.
He does so much so well. But those false notes ... like a musician who sprinkles flats in between the brilliant riffs.
I know. I'm just a fan since '68 and I am Ram-conditioned to disappointment. Call it lack of nerve if you will.
But I don't trust McVay against Shanahan, Belichick, ... or Arians.
Hope I'm wrong.
