he says he's not into stats, he says the main thing is to win and he loves what he call M A D plays....Make a Difference plays...I assume he's onto INT's and Fumble recoveries....So far that is what is happening, we don't get off the field much on 3rd downs, he doesn't talk about doing that much if at all. His D is playing the way he want's it to roll, it's not about getting up to par...this is it.
I can't see a team getting TO's in bunches for a full season, they usually come sporadically, in bunches and then disappear for a couple games. I can only see what my eyes see and I am seeing a guy like DW play fall back.....the entire backfield seems to be playing for a tackle instead of attacking the ball and being right there to contest a pass. DW's dives and jumps for ball has been replaced by sitting back and tackling after the completion and he's whiffing on several of those....
I think what we are seeing is his defense.....more zone stuff much less man to man, much less attacking, instead looking for tips. Staying on the field way too much, letting a team go all the way down the field hoping for a stop by turnover, hoping a team makes a mistake. This D will not be a top 10 defense IMO....
With the O we have it would seem you would want a defense to do as many 3 and outs as possible, but we seem to be pleased to do the opposite and try for a make a difference play...IMO a make a difference play can be closing it up on 3rd down and make them punt to TuTu, but that's just me I guess.
