For those who find various criticisms of the Rams performance (totally legit by the way), this is pretty much how Jourdan thought it would go. To paraphrase: Because the Rams played no starters OR regular rotational guy and key back ups, then the Rams' play will be uneven for the 1st game or the perhaps only the 1st half of the first game.
Yep. That pretty well describes it.
Let's also pump the brakes and remember that there's a ton on new players on this team, including a QB who had to learn an entire new system playing in a venue he never had before, with guys he had only practiced and scrimmaged with. The D is full of new guys with a new DC. So, yeah, uneven performance. But go back to the great NE years under Bellicheck and you'll usually see something similar. The year starts out OK, not great, but then builds and builds until they're playing really well in December. I'm sure that's what McVay is thinking.
