The first pro game I went to was on November 15, 1970: San Diego Chargers at Boston Patriots.
The game was played at Harvard University. I remember the field had a track around it and my brother and I spent the 2nd half watching the game from various vantage points on the track.
The only player I remember from that game was Lance Alworth, although I did look the game up and saw that Joe Kapp was the QB of the Pats and John Hadl was the QB of the Chargers.
Chargers won 16-14. And although I didn't appreciate it at the time as I look back at that game I'm glad the Pats lost.
It's funny, I used to live in Las Vegas in the mid-late '90's and we always used to go to the sports book at Bally's to watch the games. They had a pretty trick setup with stadium seating, 3 big screens and most importantly, each seat/booth had it's own tv that you could tune into any game that you wanted. The Rams rarely were featured on the big screens but I was fine with my own little spot to enjoy the game. Many others were like that with their teams and one regular we got to know a little was a big Patriots fan.
At the time, the Patriots were not very good and I remember, even being a Rams fan, feeling kind of bad for him for being stuck as a Patriots fan.
The universe hates me.
