You can never know what you don't know. You can plan, but that doesn't mean it'll work. The NFL is about humans, not machines. Humans can surprise or disappoint. They can grow in their occupation like mad, and then unexpectedly plateau. They can change their minds. They can have outside influences interfere in negative ways. Then can get injured or ill, or even lose their passion for the game. They can work well with one boss, and not well with another.

Further, there is an implication (including by Jourdan) that the Rams made an error by not focusing on re-loading Oline through this past draft. Clearly the Rams had a different priority, and they aren't ignoring the issue that Whit will retire after this season and other Olinemen will have their contracts expire. But sometimes you can't fix everything at once, and the Rams are always tight lipped about their plans in such matters. But to imply that they either don't know what they are doing or throwing caution to the wind has simply not been the MO since Kroeke, Snead and McVay began working together. Did some things not work out as planned? Yep. But this team has been equipped for a Superbowl run this year. Next year has its own blueprint as well. But, that could also change depending on what happens this year.

The idea that a team can pre-plan all their positions in advance is ludicrous

Why a concern? He's still developing. OL nearly always do.
