and I agree with the random nature of of a full game...that's why I was fine with one of them....but these guys have been playing the game of football(peewee, HSA, college, + pro seasons) for 5-10 years at this point. They know what football is and the speed it's played at the pro level.
As individuals yes they know those things. Not as a team though---and the key is reacting as a team. Granted most teams have a lot of continuity, but "playing as a team" is something that needs practice too, it's not just always there. I don't think there's any substitute for the random, unpredictable character of games--and practicing against that as a team. Plus of course every year there are changes in the line-up too--continuity is never constant and absolute.
Just bouncing ideas around, and offering a different view.
