What is the narrative that you feel people shouldn't be buying? All Baldy said is that Stafford is a superior mental processor. That's either a fact or it isn't. If it's a fact that he is superior in that regard, there could be many reasons why - your theory of experience being the critical difference is certainly a valid theory.
But ultimately it doesn't matter WHY he is a superior mental processor; it matters more THAT he's a superior mental processor. The narrative that the current Stafford is superior to the current Goff in mental processing doesn't seem to be a false narrative. So why the amazement that people buy it?
