I don't doubt that Robinson could have a bigger impact this year. But we should also realize Robinson has averaged one sack per season in his career. Not that Brockers was ever a major pass rusher but you get the point.
The Rams had 15.5 sacks and 26 QB hits worth of pass rush (in 2020) leave between Fox, Brockers and Ebukam. My biggest concern on defense right now is where that gets made up. They have some really formidable run defenders in Robinson, SJD, Gaines, the rookie Bobby Brown III has potential, etc. But other than Hollins and Lewis increasing production off the edge there are questions about who fills that void.
I think they are going to continue just work in sacks with the way they use formations and and schemes. I think Floyd contributes from one side and that there is no one player who will step up on the other side and supply what they got from Fowler (who then failed to provide that in 2020 on his new team). I have my doubts about Lewis--the raw ability is there but he has to prove he's not a Danario Alexander. They're best bet is Garrett but probably not for another season or 2. Subtract Donald and the entire defense is far more average. That's not
entirely true because the secondary is so good, but still. I think continued improvement from Joseph-Day and Robinson (and maybe even Gaines) means they reduce 1st down yardage which helps.
It's far, far from a bad situation, but still, they really do look like they may be one edge rusher away from having an absolutely elite defense.
