I would be happy if a year was added. Do you think that is the case? That quote from your OTC link makes me wonder if the contract update created cap space but did not add another year of A'Shawn Robinson playing for the Rams. Am I reading that accurately?

Yeah voidable years just allow a team to spread the pro-rated bonus out. The player is not under contract in a voidable year. He's just counting against the cap for accounting purposes.
Here's how over.the.cap.com explains it:
"Voidable contract years are basically fake contract seasons that are simply used for salary cap manipulation....The purpose of the void year is to allow a team to pay a player a signing bonus and prorate for more years than actually exists on the contract. Basically it’s buying on credit with the cap — buy now and pay later.’’Having said that, in this particular case, that of Robinson, he is under contract in 2022. But then his cap hit jumps to 9.5 M. If the Rams cut him before the 2022 season, they save 5.5 M. I dunno, it seems to me Robinson would have to do a lot to justify a nearly 10 M cap hit.
