For Rams, anyway.
For starters, WR is hardly a need for Rams. Heck, we’re already 5 deep there and trying to figure out how to get targets for DJ and Tutu, for crying out loud.
If Rams want to mortgage their draft capital and cap assets, I’d infinitely prefer it be for a stud WOLB or even ILB. Maybe a tremendous TE that still had semi-elite tread on his tires? Or a top drawer LOT that could play for 5+ more years? A true stud at any of those positions could put Rams over the top.
But NOT a 32 year old former great WR whose health is in question and whose best years are definitely behind him. I mean, we’re already loaded at WR! Not the best way to keep our SB dreams alive for the long term, IMO. Sorry.
I get your gist 43 but you can't simply say the Rams are loaded at WR.
Woods - has been a stud and durable. His skill set is different than Julio's but is a huge piece of the Rams offense. I doubt the Rams would use him as trading piece for Julio but can't rule it out.
Kupp - is underrated by a lot of people but he tends to fade in the second half of seasons. Look up the stats. His skill set is not a true outside WR. He's been a great slot. He's also been a coach on the field as well. One of the most cerebral WR's in the NFL but I would take a Julio over him based on outside skill set.
Van Jefferson - A polished route runner as a rookie that had a decent but unspectacular rookie season. He seems to have a great future but his skill set last year was more of a hybrid of Woods and Kupp. Not a long ball burner but has youth and upside and more to show in is second season. Maybe with Stafford he becomes more of a deep threat but until seen it's wait and see.
DeSean Jackson - A 34 year old WR that turns 35 in December. Has played in only 8 games the last two seasons. Well past his prime and injury prone. A mega star deep ball threat when healthy but his speed gear might not be what is was 2 years ago.
Tutu Atwell - ROOKIE: 5'8 & 1/2 160 lbs on a good day. He's a speed demon and a great fit in the Rams offense. Expected to have as a good of a rookie season as Van Jefferson if not better because of his deep threat ability. Would not be surprised if he has top 5 stats of all the 2021 rookie WR's drafted.
There are questions regarding this unit as a group. They look better on paper than they did in 2020 but you can't guarantee on paper that they are 5 deep. DeSean and Tutu have plenty of questions and Kupp has faded in the second half of the last couple of seasons.
Julio Jones has questions of his own because he only played 9 games in 2020 and is 32 years old.
In 2019, 2018 & 2017 he played in 15, 16 & 16 games.
He has a skill set that is unlike any current Rams WR on the roster.
I'm not saying make the trade in a NY minute, I'm just saying he's worth considering and the Rams WR group is not a sure 5 deep studded group as you seem to imply.
