No it's not "the eyeball test."
Or it is not only that. It is partly seeing them play.
It is reading around about how they are regarded by coaches, professional analysts, and the like.
And it is some key stats (like failing in consecutive games to punch it from 1 or yards out).
My problem with metrics is it is always someone else's and then it depends on the source--for example IMO PFF is way too weird in how they grade OL units.
I think generally PFF can be ballpark but of all the unit assessments they do, I have always had the most problems with their OL stuff.
