I get where you're coming from and McVay and Snead have since acknowledged that they just didn't have the burner to stretch the field vertically. That's why they pick up Jackson.
But... to say they didn't have speed is an oversimplification of what wasn't one problem. We had a QB that had become gun shy, lacked confidence, was a turnover machine, and simply didn't play well very often. Everett never did become that weapon they had counted on. Whit was lost for half the season, and even though Noteboom did OK, he wasn't Whit.
Play calling? Throw some of that in there, too, no doubt.
But to make it that the Rams offense was slow or that we had no fast WRs is just not correct. Woods is a 4.4 guy and while Kupp may not have been a burner, he is fast enough and very quick. You don't have 2 of the top guys in the league at RAC if they aren't fast AND slick.
So due to a variety of factors the Rams O simply wasn't what we all hoped for. Let's hope with Stafford, Jackson, a quickly ascending Akers, a 2nd year Jefferson and a good draft the Rams will regain a dominant O.
