I’ve been thinking this for a couple of years but I’m gonna spit it out now.
Snead has assembled a great scouting dept that has excelled at certain positions, but not at the Edge position particularly.
I’m thinking that Snead should maybe re-evaluate his scouts that handle that Edge position.
There were 15 players listed last year at either DE or LB who got 9 or more sacks. How many were originally drafted below round 2? 3. Most of the rest are 1st rounders.
Who besides Donald has gotten sacks for the Rams in the last 4 years? Floyd and Fowler. Quinn got 8.5, Matthews 8. All 1st rounders.
It has nothing to do, IMO, with setting priorities or dedicating resources to getting scouts who focus on it etc.
It's that there are rarely any decent pass rushers after round 1.

Lewis is the first edge rusher taken above the 4th round. Four 7th rounders who played like 7th rounders. A 6th round pick. A couple of 4th's in Ebukam and Franklin-Myers. And a 3rd in Lewis. Usually, you get what you pay for.
