I can understand the optimism about Matt Stafford, but why do people continue to elevate the likes of Sam Darnold, Teddy Bridgewater, Cam Newton and Dak Prescott?
Bridgewater is a career journeyman, Prescott has never won anything despite having great players around him, and Darnold has been a turnover machine since he was in high school? If Jared Goff can be a bum after helping his team win 3 division titles, an NFC title game, play in a Super Bowl, why can't these other guys be bums?
I guess it depends on what you mean by "elevate."
Carolina clearly sees Bridgewater the same as you do which is why they just traded for Darnold.
But it seems they feel differently about Darnold. He's much younger than Bridgewater, he was put on a bad team, and he has good tools. So maybe it's soon to write him off.
I'm in agreement on Prescott and Newton.
