Part of the reason McVay let Wade go and hired Staley is because he wanted the Rams to be able to play the type of defense that had given McVay so much trouble the previous 2 seasons.

That has me wondering ... is there a particular running scheme that the Rams have had trouble defending over the last couple years? If so, was the switch in OL coaches made so the Rams could implement that scheme?

And could that also explain the odd timing of Kromer's departure? It's possible that McVay tried to convince Kromer to change how the OL was being coached and Kromer wouldn't (or couldn't) buy in on the new scheme.
