In real time, I remember thinking that Jared thought Woods was "in breaking," and had "intuited" where to wheel into open space. It was never, ever read right by Jared. Jared floated it towards that spot. Still an agonizing thing to watch.
There's a group of negative plays in the last few games by Jared that, when summed, led to a corrosive response from the head coach.
Back to that play, if Jared was going to float it? Appears it could have gone to the sideline gap to Kupp, or more direct lead to Woods.
And, yeah, perhaps as an overall blight, the Dolphin and Jet games were tough to review.
Worse than the picks are the fumbles.
My hunch is that the SF games were among the most irksome at another level for the headcoach.
I remain a huge fan of Jared Goff. And I expect big things out of our new QB.
The club wants the coach happy; They've taken the largest risks, and tossed the dice.
Reconciling this all will take me some months. That we are unlikely to see the new QB in live snaps in preseason, and have to rely on reports won't make it easier.
I know Matthew can play this game: Can they construct a killer offensive in one go over summer?
