I know linemen in a zone blocking scheme are built to be smaller and athletic so won't they always get bull rushed by a bigger defensive tackle? I feel like if goff had a little more mobility in the pocket they would have looked a little better. Not even like DeShaun Watson level. just like what Stafford has. The ability to move right, move left, improvise a little bit. Or am I way off?
There are teams with tough ZB schemes that are not bulled that way. That goes way back. Look at how the Rams DL can't even throw off a qb like Mullens enough to win. Basically the Rams version of the ZBS is a variant on what Goff learned from Shanahan.
Stafford does not do any better under multiple pressures than anyone else btw. I've looked at the numbers in games where he was pressured 10 or more times in 2020. He's no different than anyone else. Some he did okay--in others he didn't.
The Rams have an OL problem they need to fix. Trying to put that on everything but the OL is just not going to get us very far. In general the OL was solid in 2020 but there were games--and it was more than one--where they got dominated. And btw in a couple of those games (2nd half of the Jets game, the Green Bay game) the qb played well in spite of it.
Stafford btw was not universally mauled in high pressure games either. But he did not always do well in them either. Basically it's no different from the Rams in 2020.
