I understand the sentimentality, CM, but I’ve gotta disagree.
A cap-strapped SB contender with a limited window has to make some difficult choices. Brockers and Hav are expendable if push comes to shove as an opportunity at a ‘need’ position comes up. The ‘Greater Good’ thing, you know?
The only move that would personally make sense to me under this scenario is SJD moves to Brockers position and Robinson/Gaines man the middle.
Yeah, our DL is plenty deep enough to survive a Brockers departure. Heck, they had signed Robinson when they thought they’d lost Brockers to FA last offseason. It’s a lucky fluke that Brockers is even here, tbh.
Guys I am not all that sure Fox plays as a base-D type straight-up 3/4 end. I wonder if he's more of a sub-packages, pass-rush guy. He has 403 defensive snaps v. Brockers at 624.
M
B has 5 sacks, 21 solo Ts & 30 assists, 5 TFL and 10 qb hits.
M
F has 6 sacks, 21 Ts, 6 assists, 8 TFL and 9 qb hits.
So Fox got more with fewer snaps.
But...again, was he handling the (rough and hard to handle) base 3/4 end spot?
Just wondering out loud.
