So, where in fact would Martin rank ability-wise among UFA/cut Cs?
Much better than Corey Linsley or the much cheaper (per 2020 salaries) David Andrews, who learned at NE under the venerable Dante Scarnecchia, and Ted Karras?
I get it that Martin in 2020 had a high/huge $$$ number, which would require some real management by the Rams to win Martin over with a next-contract offer:

But It seems to me the Rams have one chance, no do-overs, to get a plug-and-play C if they want to maximize their sizeable investment in Stafford. Their OL as a group must keep him upright and his uniform clean, as the TB OL largely did for TB12. The Lombardi Trophy now sitting somewhere inside Raymond James Stadium attests to how well Brady's OL did that.
I hope the Rams are doing their due diligence on Martin. Should they put their off-season $$$ into a tested veteran who at age 28 ought to have lots of quality play over the course of his next contract, or on a rookie at #57, etc., whose drafting would take away from another position need?
