why would we want to trade one of our best OL?
Makes no sense to me that they would want to make this trade
Maybe they don't want to trade him but I can think of several reasons to do so:
1) Sell high - It seems he's been great on even years and has had a down year on the odd years - 2017, 2019.
2) Adequate replacements behind him - What's the point of drafting an Evans in the 3rd if you're not gonna eventually give the young players a chance? Evans did a pretty good job at RT in 2019 when Hav was injured. Also, they reportedly love Anchrum. Unfortunately, moving to cheaper, younger players is one of the best ways to manage the salary cap.
3) Free up vital cap space - We can't have it all. We want them to make moves but don't want to lose any players. He's one of the top 7 salaries so he's our best trade chip. Same with Brockers. This is especially true when your strategy is to be top heavy with elite players like ours is. After the very good to elite guys, it's almost mandatory that the rest of the roster be young, cheap players. It's why our roster is consistently one of the top 3 youngest.
4) Get more draft capital - They're missing their #1 so an extra mid round pick would be great. And Snead does well on those picks.
