why would we want to trade one of our best OL?

Makes no sense to me that they would want to make this trade

Maybe they don't want to trade him but I can think of several reasons to do so:

1) Sell high - It seems he's been great on even years and has had a down year on the odd years - 2017, 2019.

2) Adequate replacements behind him - What's the point of drafting an Evans in the 3rd if you're not gonna eventually give the young players a chance? Evans did a pretty good job at RT in 2019 when Hav was injured. Also, they reportedly love Anchrum. Unfortunately, moving to cheaper, younger players is one of the best ways to manage the salary cap.

3) Free up vital cap space - We can't have it all. We want them to make moves but don't want to lose any players. He's one of the top 7 salaries so he's our best trade chip. Same with Brockers. This is especially true when your strategy is to be top heavy with elite players like ours is. After the very good to elite guys, it's almost mandatory that the rest of the roster be young, cheap players. It's why our roster is consistently one of the top 3 youngest.

4) Get more draft capital - They're missing their #1 so an extra mid round pick would be great. And Snead does well on those picks.

I think KC scoring 9 points in the Super Bowl showed everyone how important OL is....If teams haven't learned by now, they never will....it all starts up front, always will.....

He is clearly one of our best lineman in his prime and I just don't see what good would come from weakening such a vital part of a teams most important units...see what happened when we lost Saffold as an example. There are other ways to work the salary cap to make sure we keep some of our better players on the OL imo

Valid concerns. You may be right.

But see #2 above. You're assuming that trading him weakens the OL but that's not necessarily the case. I'm certain that if the Rams didn't feel that Evans, Anchrum, or Noteboom could replace him without drop off, they don't trade him. If they trade him, that's a clear signal that they feel they can have just as good an OL without him.

we all saw what happened when Noteboom filled in for Whit, he played well, but there was clearly a drop off.....We can't afford a drop off right now....

A big part of the reason why the line improved last year was having Havs staying healthy....I don't see anyone on this roster that has proven they can replace him and without drop off
