If they stick to their normal MO, they will definitely address needy positions via free agency prior to getting to the draft. So I agree there.
But on looking for day one starter types, I'm skeptical based on their past pattern.
2017: Everett, Kupp, JJ - None of them were day one starters.
2018: Noteboom - Not a day one starter
2019: Rapp, Henderson, David Long - None were pegged or intended to be day one starters. Rapp ended up starting most of the year because Weddle got injured.
2020: Akers, Jefferson, Lewis, Burgess - Akers is probably the closest to a day one starter out of all their picks but he didn't get the nod from day one. Brown was the lead back day one and Henderson was ahead of him too but got hurt.
Their pattern has been to draft players for the future. I haven't seen them focusing on day one starters.
I should have been more explicit. I think this year is different because everyone's board will have a ton of deviation. So that means teams are going to be seeing guys "falling" more than usual. Translation is for the best front offices that pick is opportunity to land a first round talent by their metric. Which has to be someone you feel.
And by the way Kupp was a day one starter pretty much. Or should have been if he wasn't. But I agree with your trend above lol.
