The only position I'm 90% certain they won't draft with their first pick is a center.
I agree with you that edge rusher might be an overrated preference by a lot of fans.
I will admit that I won't be surprised if they select an edge in the second round but there will have to be an edge rusher stud that falls in their lap.

A lot of fans think the Rams desperately need an edge rusher early in the draft. I'm not one of them because I have seen what they like to do with their draft picks. They usually give them a redshirt season so to speak. Akers had to really ball out to finally get his playing time.
2ndly, I'm not seeing a day one starter at edge at the tail of the 2nd round. Tryon isn't even in that discussion. He sat out 2020. He is going to need time. Elerson Smith from UNI? Needs time. And I don't think he has the talent a guy like Rivers or Lewis has.
As far as ILBers, a couple names stand out. Patrick Onwauser ILBer from Baltimore and last year with the Jets. Missed all last season. He would fit nicely.
Eric Wilson from Minnesota. Smart as all get out. Has a nose for creating turnovers and is in a bit of a game of musical chairs in Minnesota once Barr and Kendricks are healthy. He played inside and outside for them. started 15 games 122 tackles, 62 being solo tackles, 8 TFL, 3 INTs, 1 FF, 2 fumble recoveries, 8 passes defensed, 9 QB hits, 3 sacks. So yeah, at 6'-1" 230 lbs, a prototypical 34 ILB that can obviously run, cover and hit.
