Rampage2K-
About the Goff/Mcvay thing...I really think this goes way deeper than any of us will ever know.....just weird when you go back and watch games like Tampa Bay when he tore them up for 375 and 3 TD's when we had zero running game and think that McVay didn't realize that Goff is fully capable of the types of games when the line holds up and the right game plan is implemented.
Goff was a big part of Sean's early success and he will be the first to admit it as he has several times in the past, so to think McVay couldn't figure out how to get the best out of Goff is very puzzling to say the least..He was good enough to get us to a Super Bowl in his second year, but somehow all the sudden he isn't ???
..I think McVay is fixated on the new breed of QB who can run around and make plays, but we all saw what happened to the best in the NFL at it in the Super Bowl when things didn't go well up front. To hear the "we won't win with him" narrative is a bit strange considering he has the second most wins in the entire NFL since 2017 behind only the GOAT, who he outplayed btw in Monday Night this year.... I don't buy that when I watch the divisional playoff game and he was 19-21 to start that game with a broken thumb and we all know it wasn't because of him that we didn't advance....spare me the "he didn't lose the game for us, but he couldn't win it for us" nonsense when it was clear from the begging that the defense was getting boat raced that day in historic fashion...maybe if we had the 2017 OL, Gurley and Kupp we could have, but it would have been tough
the amount of pressure by the media and the fans McVay has put on himself with this move is incredible and obviously I hope it works out with multiple Lombardi's, but man...if it doesn't I hope he doesn't burn himself out
I think those are all fair points.
If they didn't pull off a good trade I would wonder more about these things. But once the coach and qb are in disconnect one of them has to go, and that was far more likely to be the qb, and then it turns on who the next qb is. Fortunately for us it's Stafford. I don't think McVay's impatience will bite him this time because Stafford is a good get. He's is capable of being exceptional in the right circumstances (though we have seen him come up short against the Rams). I look forward to seeing him play. I don't think the Rams have ever had a qb like him since I have been following them.
That's not meant to talk you into or out of anything, just throwing my own 2 cents into the ring.
