Stafford got hurt pretty badly a couple years ago, it was a back injury. He missed a good chunk of the season. A few friends said he should retire before he gets hurt worse. My memory is thin and I didn't follow his career but I believe there were a couple games that he started and got hurt and had to come out.
I wouldn't put much stock in assessing his current durability against his first 7 years. Guys get old, Lions QBs take a pounding, Stafford at times tried to do too much and took more shots than he should have. There is some validity to the "hurt" concern but he's never seemed injury prone to me.
One of my best friends at work, who's was a hardcore Lions fan, has wanted the Lions to dump Stafford for the last 4 years. He felt about Stafford the way that McVay appears to feel about Goff. The chorus of selling Stafford for draft picks or other quality players got a little louder each year. I'm assuming that most Lions fans are happy to have gotten a good draft pick haul and they're happy for Stafford to go to a contender, as I am, both ways.
Stafford was really liked in Detroit but I never sensed they loved him like they did Barry Sanders, or even Megatron.
Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm thinking the Lions go 0-16 next year. The Rams should trade someone to the Lions for their 1st next year.
