I'm with you. I read the story about Goff taking the call from McVay that he was traded and only saying "okay" before clicking off to talk to his dad, and it made me sad. Jared steered us to a Super Bowl. To see him leave like this is tough. I liked him personally.

But the thing is...he was a game manager. And game managers can't make the mistakes he made. We beat the Cowboys in the playoffs by handing the ball off to Gurley and Anderson. Jared made a couple of plays but nothing spectacular. We beat the Saints in the playoffs by benching Gurley and getting four field goals from Greg the Leg. Again, Jared made a couple of plays but nothing spectacular. In the Super Bowl, he sucked. There's no sugar coating it. Everyone I knew said after that game "Man, you guys need a new quarterback."

We know about the games he cost us. Miami. San Fran. the Jets. What about the games he almost cost us? Remember the game at Cleveland where he threw a pick and we had to hang on by our fingernails at the end? This had to drive his coaches crazy. I kept waiting for him to get it. But his body language and facial expressions suggested otherwise.

It was a scab that needed to be ripped off. There was no easy way for McVay and Snead to pull it off after giving him the big money last year. He regressed.

So if the Rams handled Goff poorly, what should they have done and said?
