I think maybe it was he way they were saying it.. especially Snead and the “beautiful mystery” comment. Not sure we would be having this conceit it wasn’t for the Silver article and comments. Amazing how influential that stuff can be.

C'mon man.

Snead was snickering at the question and playing games with it when asked.

On top of it remember no one communicated to the player that he was up for a trade, he heard it through news reports, and that's before the trade was finalized.
