Even for those cheap-a@@ owners, raising the cap this year will only affect their cash flow, not their bottom line.
The NFL and the NFLPA have already agreed to spread the pain from the 2020 season over the next 4 years. They will likely borrow some cap dollars from 2022, 2023, and 2024 and add them to 2021 just so 2021 isn't totally screwed up. It won't actually cost the owners anything other than not having their money in hand for up to three years.
