I think it's important to view this stat in the proper context. Sean McVay is the one who has the 2nd most wins in the last 4 years, not Jared Goff. The W/L record is the HC's stat. So, with so many down on McVay right now, let's remember that he is the actual leader of this team and he is the guy that has orchestrated 4 straight winning seasons, 3 playoff appearances and a SB appearance.
And he did that with mostly substandard production from the QB position. Definitely in the playoffs.
Granted, McVay and Snead have screwed the pooch on rewarding their guys with money and loyalty. There's worse things from a regime. But, they likely learned from it and won't make the same mistakes again. If they decide that Goff needs to go, then that must be the best decision for the Rams. If they can jettison a true playmaker and MVP caliber player like Gurley then Goff has no reason to complain.
A player has to produce once he gets the big contract and Goff just didn't. IMO, they wrapped him up so early because they were seeing confidence and performance issues back in '18 and they didn't want him to get rattled or distracted. They thought he would be secure and continue to mature but it backfired and blew up in their faces. I'm sure moving forward their QB's will have to prove it longer and more consistently before they get a big deal.
I simply don't understand all of those who seem ready to dump McVay in favor of Goff. It's a LOT harder to find a HC than a QB and I would think that would be obvious to a fanbase that has had to put up with some of the guys we've had. True, good QB's don't grow on trees but Goff isn't a good QB. Hell, TJ Rubley looked good at one point. Goff had a nice little run but the reality has set in and is pretty clear. QB's that haven't had a shot or a good shot can rise from out of nowhere but guys who've had 5+ years of starting experience don't magically buck their trends.
