Lot of similarities. The QB situation, not so much. Warner couldn't grip a football because his broken bones deteriorated his dexterity. Goff? What his excuse other than everything and the kitchen sink? Since '18, Goff has been a bottom tier QB. Warner had an injury riddled 7 game stretch. 41 games of ineptitude vs. 7 games of playing through injury. Just not the same.

Warner welcomed competition. His whole career was an uphill battle. If all it takes to alienate Goff is to say that everyone is under evaluation, then there's a real problem with him.

I love Kurt, still my all time favorite Rams player of all time, but I'd like to see what a 28 year old Goff could do behind that OL and with weapons Faulk, Bruce, Holt and Az

Not saying he'd be Warner, but I'm guessing he wouldn't be being run out of town by some fans....although Warner himself went through that too

Hard to play the guessing game. On the one hand, Goff far outpaces Warner in terms of physical skills and attributes. Taller, better arm, no doubt. But Warner could see the field and anticipate like few others. Not to mention get killed on a regular basis. The recognition, awareness, anticipation and timing would be the differences between the two. I thinhk Goff would be very Bulger-like on the GSOT. Not Warner-like though.

Could see that, but Bulger caught the tail end of the GSOT, not the peak of it.....I think Goff has more talent than Bulger obviously the draft position would suggest that, but Bulger could sling it

With Bulger and Goff it came down to intangibles that really couldn't be measured. Bulger had a quick release and enough arm but lacked that "it" factor. When he said he was fine with the idea of being a backup for the Ravens, it crystalized for me that he was no Warner. Perhaps Bulger was just being realistic so maybe I want a delusional QB? Because regardless of how things were going. you could not convince Kurt that he wasn't the best QB on his team.

But it isn't just a Warner thing, the guys who process and see the field...probably just a tick faster than others, are the one's who are special. Sadly, I don't think Goff fits into that category. In today's NFL, if you aren't doing those things at the highest level, I don't see how you can consistenly excel. Goff has done it on occassions but he doesn't do it regularly. If he could, he'd be right there with Rivers, Brees, Brady, Ben, etc. I mean, this year. Look at Ben. Many consider him washed up but he had no running game, the whole offense was on him and he put up 33TD/10INT. Had Goff done that this year, I'd say get him some help. That he'd improved from his miserable finish to '18 and that he was worth building around. But he was just not in the same conversation. He had a good running game. He had the #1 defense. He had the two best RAC WR's in the NFL. The OL was top 10. He had McVay as his coach. He was healthy most of the time.

There really wasn't an excuse for Goff this year and IMO, since he's actually been struggling since the middle of '18, I think McVay must have made it clear to Goff that he had to step up this year. His '19 could not have been acceptable but it could be argued that the OL and the loss of Gurley held him back. But to come back in '20 and not improve again? I think that's why McVay may have had his last straw.
