Coaches love getting other coaches hired, just like good college coaches love getting their players drafted.
A good coach would love a program where he constantly loses players to the draft early, why? Because it is good for his players that he loves, good for the program he is building, and good for his reputation. More kids want to come to his school, more kids get to take care of their families, and the program becomes known as a winner.
Losing programs do not lose coaches and scouts and players constantly, but winning programs do. We went from a losing program to a winning one. That is what matters.
McVay is a student of history and knows that the best mark of the best coaches is having an amazing coaching tree. The legends all picked and sent out other legendary coaches. McVay is already building his coaching tree of great coaches and it is still really early. Guys that leave and do great will add to that coaching tree. Who knows, we may have things that happened in New England happen, maybe Staley fails and comes back for a few more years. Maybe he does amazing and becomes the new hot thing, and people start raiding his staff.
I think McVay knows that the only way not to get poached is to be a loser, and no way he would be ok with that. If anything, this validates his ability to find quality coaches, we have shown an ability to find quality scouts, we have an amazing culture that is working and as long as it continues to work, there will never be a year where new coaches and players will need to be found.
