Again: IMO the Rams might be interested in a Goff + something trade for Watson..... if Houston's interested.
But, barring that, they Rams would probably see what can be done this off season, but it would probably have to involved bringing in a QB that McVay thinks is better than Goff. That lets out any rookies. And if they can't make a deal that they think makes the club better, then maybe they keep him and hope that he can give them a better year than 2020. I doubt Snead would be willing to role the dice yet again on another top QB coming out of college. That's stuff that bottom dwellers usually do OR a good team that for some reason has a real high #1 pick and have a college QB they are in love with, as well as a vet starter who is at the least a winning QB.
This is going to come down to McVay's diagnosis of where the trouble lies. If he thinks that perhaps a real good deep threat WR solves some of the Goff problem, then perhaps he goes that route because it is less volatile. Goff sure seemed to do better with a player like that in the bag.
Don't know if Houston will really trade Watson but if they do, the price will be astronomical.
I'm sure the Rams will be interested but a package centered around Goff won't get it done. Houston is going to want draft picks - a lot of 1st round picks.
It would probably take Goff and at least two, possibly three 1st round picks.
Goff + 2022 - 2024 1st for Watson. Still want the deal?
