Excellent stuff, thank you. I agree with most of what you said so just to echo a few things:
OC, EDGE, CB- probably line up as their three biggest needs. And to your point, all positions they can address with what they have in the draft. WR4 as well.
Agree, except I think CB will be decided after the decisions on Williams and Hill.
I think overall they are in an enviable position going into the offseason, other than some cap restructuring you'd rather not have to do. I'd love to keep JJ and Floyd, and have a 1st, but 4 picks in the top 105 is a nice place to be.
On Goff, I agree. The real thing here is likely he's been put "on notice" and that without a more consistent year the Rams very well could move on in 2022. And they can feel good enough about Wolford as a QB2. yeah
They have their RB situation settled, top 3 WR, top 2 TE. Find that situational, deep threat WR4 and a good blocking TE3. Should not be that hard. They have to get more from Higbee than 44 catches on 60 targets at his salary. wholeheartedly agree
I have liked Blythe overall but the way you lay it out certainly does point to center being the likely target to upgrade on the OL. They have Edwards, Corbett, Evans and Anchrum all at OG with Noteboom another OG option if needed. Center is the position to address. I have been saying this for years, I want a young, bigger, physical center.
Of all the Rams UFA I think Fox would provide the most (cost-benefit) value to re-sign. He's an excellent depth piece on that defensive front. But to your point, also replaceable. I think Fox comes back, unless Staley snipes him
I wouldn't do anything at ILB other than draft someone that slips if the value is too good to be true. Reeder, Young, Kiser, Howard- this defense is fine with them there. Heres where we go different directions. But if you want a later ILB, Paddy Fisher is an old school guy that can be gotten on day 3, Baron Browning is late day 2, early day 3 guy, I think Monty Rice is an early day 3 guy.
At Edge, while they may not find a true immediate replacement for Floyd in the draft I do hope they use one of their top 2 selections there. At minimum for 2021 depth and to develop into a starter. Go hunting for a mid-priced veteran on a one-year deal. Yeah, the 3 guys I am focusing on are Oweh, Tryon and Roche. All day 2 types. All can get after the QB. Tryon will be ready the fastest, while Oweh has the most pass rush upside.
Long is the big question in the secondary. Can he step in and play productively 2X (or more) the snaps he played in 2020? A CB might be the best value option for them in the 2nd round if someone slips down to the late 50s. CB has a lot of moving parts right now.
