Couple of things here.
1. I like Jake, he’s a great kid. And that’s the point, he’s a 22 year old kid. I give him a ton of credit for all the effort he puts in, but he’s far from a competent analyst. He’s memorized a ton of names and numbers but he’s not Matt Waldman. On top of that, Jake has a soft spot for talent limited players. He’s still beating the drum for Austin Davis, who he thought was gonna be the next Brett Favre.
2. Wolford is an overachiever, but the reality is he plays recklessly. He’s undersized and leads with his head, an injury just waiting to happen. He puts it all out there on the field, and it’s a double edged sword, what gives him a shot to play in the NFL with his limited physical ability also puts him in harms way. He is in no way a long term answer.
3. Goff may not be the long term answer either, my head tells me he’s not. I think he gets one more year to step up his game to be something like an Eli Manning level QB. But for now, we gotta live with him as our best option. Don’t have to like it, but that’s the lay of the land.
