Last week Akers got hurt early 4th Q when he got a hard hit to his lower back. He had already carried the ball 28 times.
They need to get those carries down a tick IMO
How about this compromise, Speed?
Feed Akers until a ‘comfortable’ lead or time left on the clock circumstances occur, THEN make it a time share situation with Brown, or between Hendy and Brown once Hendy becomes available? I’d define ‘comfortable’ as a 2 score lead with maybe 10 minutes left, or thereabouts.
Only 2 wins stand between us and another SB appearance and those 2 wins must come against very good opponents. This ain’t no time to hold back. We live or die based upon D and our running game. And Akers is a huge part of our running game.
Goff is playing after thumb surgery.
AD will play with torn rib cartilage.
Kupp will play with a knee.
The 39 year old Whit will play although not yet 100%.
Edwards has been playing with an Achilles for a month.
Heck, every player left in these playoffs on all 8 teams has one thing or another hurting them. I say we feed Akers until we see victory right before us. Then let the chips fall where they may.
