He is in a tough spot, but the easy out is just to say "we didn't feel comfortable with Goff's injury to his throwing hand and wanted to rest him in hopes to have him back to 100% for the divisional round"
And hope the defense once again steps up and plays their asses off like they did yesterday......like Nate said. They bring that defense and it doesn't matter who we start
My concern with him going to Wolf is if Goff feels that he was ready to go and McVay didn't go that route.
The fans and the media might buy into the injury cover but Goff will know if it was really due to his injury or to a lack of trust from his HC. If it's the latter, there can be trouble down the road.
